In 1970, Grandpa Gus Aslanidis opened G&D Steakhouse on 2001 West Worley Street in Columbia, MO. For over 50 years, he and his family have proudly served the community.

In 1966, Gus & Kasiani Aslanidis along with their four children left their tobacco farm and everything that they had ever known in Thessaloniki, Greece to move to the United States for a better life.

Menominee, Wisconsin was their first stop.  There Gus lived with and worked for his brother in law, Alex Kostas at his pizza parlor. He worked 18 hours a day, 6 days a week to support his family. Next, his family moved to Fairfield, Iowa to work for another brother in law, George Terzopoulos at his restaurant George’s Pizza. In 1968, Gus and his family moved to work for George Terzopoulos and his friend Dino at the first G&D Steakhouse on North Ninth Street in Columbia, MO. A year later, Gus bought out Dino and they relocated the restaurant to the corner of South Ninth Street. In September 1970, they opened another G&D Steakhouse on Worley Street where it still stands today. Over the years, Gus and George opened many more G&D Steakhouses throughout mid-Missouri in which they trained Greek family friends to run the restaurants before they purchased a few years later.

Over 50 years later, there are only 2 locations left. G&D Steakhouse on Worley is owned and operated by Angelo Aslanidis and his son Michael. G&D Pizzeria is run by their cousins, the Terzopoulos family.

Thank you for your support. We plan to continue serving this community for many years to come!
